Helen Walsh Retires From Clare Libraries After 17 Years Of Cultural Leadership

Clare’s recently retired County Librarian has spoken fondly of the opportunities she had to become embedded in communities across the county during her time in the role.

Helen Walsh stepped down from the position last week, leaving behind an extraordinary legacy in culture and community life across the county.

She first took up the role in 2009 and during that time oversaw the completion and opening of Cultúrlann Sweeney in Kilkee, the development of the De Valera Library in Ennis and the creation of the Centurial Sphere in Ennis.

Helen has told Clare FM’s Morning Focus that she feels fortunate to have seen her vision come to fruition during that time.
