Shannon Airport is hitting the fast lane, announcing a new partnership with one of Ireland’s brightest sporting stars.
World Top 8 400m runner, European medalist and Irish Olympian, Sharlene Mawdsley, will be a Shannon Airport Ambassador for the next three years.
The Tipperary native has travelled the world and captivated the nation with her record-breaking performances, including taking European Gold and Silver in the 4 x 400m mixed and women’s relay teams last year.
Sharlene says travelling from the Midwest Airport will reduce stress and allow her focus on what’s important ahead of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
“Shannon Airport has always been part of my journey. From some of my earliest competitions to now, travelling regularly between London and my home in Newport, it has always made it so easy for me to get to where I’m going!
“For me to be an Ambassador of Shannon Airport is incredibly special. Whether it’s on the track or the runway, it’s all about teamwork, being ambitious, and doing our best for the region”.
