Donal Moloney is doubling up his duties as U21 manager to take in the intermediates, who get proceedings underway next Sunday in Thurles against Limerick.
That game serves as the curtain raiser to the meeting of Clare and Limerick in the Munster Senior Quarter Final, with a number of the fringe players on Davy Fitzgeralds panel expected to play a part in the intermediate game.
Intermediate selector Peter Casey says they're looking forward to getting the year underway.
