Wolfe Tones squeeze into hurling quarter-final

Although they lost to Clarecastle in a thrilling encounter on Sunday morning, Wolfe Tones have squeezed through to the last eight of the senior hurling championship.

Clarecastle won by a point, 2-22 to 2-21 but it wasn’t enough for the Magpies to avoid the relegation play-off. They finished level in their group with Wolfe Tones and Scariff but because the Shannon men have the best scoring difference, they have advanced to the quarter-final.

In the other game in this group, champions Sixmilebridge beat Scariff 2-16 to 1-17 in Cusack Park. This win maintains their perfect record and they top the group.
