Wins for Liverpool and Chelsea in Carling Cup Action

 

Liverpool manager Kenny Daglish has praised his side following last nights 2-1 win over Stoke in the Carling Cup fourth round at the Britannia Stadium.

Kenwyne Jones put the home side in front however two goals from Luis Suarez  in the second half gave the visitors victory.

In the nights other action Chelsea needed extra time to beat Everton 2-1  in Goodison park thanks to Daniel Sturridges strike, Solomon Kalou took advantage of an error from the keeper to put the visitors in front but Louis Saha scored with 7 minutes left to bring the game into extra time.

After the game Chelsea boss had a message for his captain John Terry who is currently at the centre of a racism investigation.

Wolves took the lead against Manchester City but ended up losing 5-2,  Blackburn let a 2 goal lead slip before beating Newcastle 4-3 in extra time.

In Scotland Anthony Stokes scored as Celtic beat Hibs 4-1 in the league cup quarter final at Easter road while in the Championship Chris Hughtons Birmingham beat Leeds 1-0.
