A strong second half performance has seen Clare claim victory in their first match of the year.
They've beaten Kerry 2-24 to 1-15 in the Munster Senior League at Austin Stack Park in Tralee.
There were three debutants in the Clare side Eoin Quirke (Whitegate), Jason McCarthy (Inagh-Kilnamona) and Kevin Hehir (Inagh-Kilnamona) – which was led for the first time by joint managers Donal Maloney and Gerry O'Connor.
They saw their men battle in a keenly contested first half, which Clare would ultimately win by four points thanks largely to a goal from one of those debutants, Kevin Hehir.
At half-time it was 1-12 to 0-11, after Martin Stackpoole made some great saves in the Kerry goal.
Kerry were dogged into the start of the second half, but never got closer than three and Clare pulled away with a series of scores, including a goal from play by Podge Collins (captain on the day) and David Reidy frees – he scored ten points in total.
Kerry scored a goal of their own but ultiamtely lost by the twelve point margin.
Clare now face Limerick in Sixmilebridge this Wednesday evening.
Elsewhere, also in the Munster Senior League, Cork hammered Limerick 7-22 to 1-19.
