Republic of Ireland medical staff are assessing Glen Whelan’s hamstring injury ahead of Friday World Cup qualifier with Germany at the Aviva on Friday.

The midfielder was taken off after just 20 minutes of Stokes scoreless draw with Liverpool at Anfield yesterday.
Whelans club manager Pulis says it’s highly unlikely that the 28 year old will play given the nature of his injury.
Sean St Ledger and James Mc Lean are also struggling with hamstring and groin injuries.
