Clare’s Diarmuid Nash took top honours at the annual John Gaffney Memorial Invitational Handball tournament in Ballaghdereen Co Mayo over the weekend.
The Irish number three overcame Robbie McCarthy in the decider 18-21, 21-12, 11-2, marking his first win over the Westmeath man in competition.
Tuamgraney clubmate Niall Malone also took part in the Gaffney tournament, his involvement ending with a narrow tie-break defeat against Shane O’Neill of Tyrone.
Next up for Nash and Malone is a Munster Senior Doubles clash against Cork this Sunday.
