The hooker remains with Declan Kidney’s squad ahead of Saturday’s clash with Scotland, as stand-in Rory Best looks to shrug off a rib injury.

If the Ulster man fails to do this, then Sean Cronin will likely take the number 2 jersey, leaving Varley to take a spot on the bench for the clash in Dublin.
