Utd beat City 3-2 to open up six point gap

Manchester United are six points clear at the top of the Premier League after a dramatic 3-2 win over their neighbours Manchester City at the Etihad.

Robin Van Persie scored an injury time free kick to win it for United and become the first team to beat City at home in the league since December 2010.

United were 2-0 up at half time thanks to a Wayne Rooney brace.

YaYa Toure and Pablo Zabaleta both scored for City to make it 2-2 but there was still time for Van Persie to snatch all three points for United.

Everton are up to fourth place after 2-1 win at home to Tottenham.

Clint Dempsey put Spurs ahead

Steven Pienaar equalised for the home side late on and Nikica Jelavic got the winner for Everton.

Liverpool are into the top half of the table for the first this season after a 3-2 win away to West Ham.

Former Hammers Glen Johnson and Joe Cole scored for Liverpool.

Their winner was a James Collins own goal.

Mark Noble scored a penalty for West Ham to make it 1-1 and the home side went ahead with a Steven Gerrard own goal.
