The New Zealander will remain with the province until at least summer 2015.

The Belfast based side are currently 4th in the Pro 12 and have a home quarter final in the Heineken cup against Saracens this April.

Meanwhile,  Warren Gatland has confirmed that he asked referee chief Joel Jutge for clarification on scrum penalties that were awarded against them during Saturdays win over Italy.

The Wales coach was not impressed with some decisions made against Paul James by Irish referee John Lacey.

James has been replaced in the side by Gethin Jenkins for Saturday’s meeting with Ireland in Dublin. Ireland name their team for that match tomorrow.
