Brian Lohan's defending champions UL won a high scoring derby against Limerick neighbours, coming away with a 5-15 to 3-14 victory.
Davy Fitzgerald and his LIT side had a much tighter afternoon, edging out UCD by 0-18 to 1-14.
The results leave both sides in a strong position to go through, but both need to avoid defeat next week to ensure their place in the last eight.
Elsewhere NUIG beat DIT by 0-13, winning by 3-18 to 2-8.
