U-21B Hurling Honours For Broadford

The Clare U-21B Hurling title for 2022 is heading to East Clare.

Broadford are Clare U-21B Hurling Champions for 2022 following victory by the minimum after a titanic tussle with Kilmaley in Clarecastle this afternoon.

The sides were level on four occassions in the opening half alone in the showpiece event as Niall O’Farrell was scorer in chief for Broadford, hitting 0-06 in the opening period.

While for Kilmaley contributions from Dylan Keane Hayes, Thomas Maguire, Seanie Ronan and four first half points from Clare minor star Cian Neylon left the contest evenly poised at 0-8 apiece at the interval.

On the restart the Mid-Clare men wasted no time in going for the jugular with Colm Kileen rattling the back of the Broadford net on thirty-one minutes, however leading by example Broadford’s joint-captain Mark Vaughan would reply in kind just three minutes later to level matters once again at 1-09 to 1-09.

In the nip and tuck counter, Oisin Kavangh proved instrumental for Broadford, scoring four points in a fifteen minute spell in the second half that would ultimately prove decisive.

Despite Kilmaley’s  best efforts at finding an equalizing score late on , Broadford’s stern defence held firm as they became Clare U-21B Hurling Champions on a final score of 1-14 to 1-13 in Clarecastle.
