Treasurer warning over Clare County Board Finances

Delegates at last night’s county board meeting were  warned about the state of the county board’s finances ahead of its convention next month.

Treasurer Bernard Keane told the meeting that the picture emerging from the accounts is "very disappointing"

According to Clare county board treasurer Bernard Keane gate receipts  of  only 27k thousand euro was accrued from gate receipts from this year’s county senior football final while 45k was made at the Clare hurling co final.

The Kilmihil man warned delegates last night that the financial picture for 2012 was "very disappointing" and that gate receipts would appear to be down two years in a  row.

Central council delegate Ger Hickey told the meeting that the Inter-provincial series-sponsored by Clare man Martin Donnelly would proceed next March while it was agreed at the meeting that the Clare county board would support an 8 team format for the national hurling league in 2014.

The meeting was Chairman Michael O Neill’s last before he steps down next month and he told the meeting that he had enjoyed his time and  that he hoped he had made no enemies after his period at the helm of Clare Gaa

His successor will be elected at convention on the 18th of December.
