Trap defiant ahead of Faroes Clash

Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni remains defiant ahead of tonight’s World Cup qualifier with Faroe Islands.

Following Fridays 6-1 loss to Germany combined with poor performances in Kazakhstan and the Euro’s, fans and pundits alike have suggested that his position is untenable.

In the groups other encounters Austria meet Kazakhstan while Germany host Sweden.

In Group A Belgium host Scotland, Wales are away to Croatia,  in group H England are way to Poland.

Michael O’Neill’s Northern Ireland are away to Portugal at 8.45 .
