Eire Óg will be hoping to go one step further than the campaign of 2021 as they advance to the Quarter-Finals of the Clare Senior Hurling Championship for the seventh year in a row.
In a nip and tuck encounter, Clooney-Quin led by the minimum at the interval with Calum Hassett, Peter Duggan, Eoghan Ó Brien, and Colm Harrisson to the fore while Keith Hogan pulled off a string of superb saves to keep his side in front.
For Eire Óg Cian O’Dea, Aaron Fitzgerald and David McNamara were constantly in possession while Danny Russell and Shane O’Donnell were at their ever reliable best as the sides departed at 0-10 to 0-09 in favor of Clooney-Quin at the break.
Despite a Peter Duggan goal on thirty-four minutes, giving Clooney-Quin a 1-11 to 0-11 lead it was the Townies who would seize the momentum keeping their opponents scoreless in the final quarter whilst Shane O’Donnell, Darren O’Brien, Gavin Cooney, David Reidy, and Danny Russell all contributed to the scoreboard in the second period.
It finished in Cusack Park, Ennis Eire Óg 0-22 to Clooney- Quins 1-15
Despite Sunday evening’s result Clooney-Quin will still leave group three as seeded Quarter Finalists.
