At half-time it stood 0-5 to 0-1, but both teams will rue missed goal chances.  After 14 minutes, Corofin’s Kieran Carkill saved when Dean Ryan had a good chance at goal, while Corofin could have scored a goal of their own right on the stroke of half-time, but Davoren blasted wide from 15m.

The second half-started as a low-scoring affair too, but substitute Gavin Cooney’s first touch of the game, after he had pounced on a defensive mistake, saw him score the first goal of the game, and make it 1-07 to 0-02.

Two more goals followed for ÉireÓg – good work by Cooney in the corner saw him set up Dean Ryan for an easy finish, while Dara Walshe bundled home a half-saved effort from Aidan McGrath.

Corofin railed near the end, and scored a consolation goal through Eoin Davoren, but it wasn’t to be enough and they were beaten 3-10 to 1-03.
