Top 20 Finish for Bryan at World Championships

Clare’s Chris Bryan has finished 16th in the 10K at the FINA World Open Water Championships in Barcelona.

He recorded a final time of 1:49.33, just 21 seconds behind the winner Spyridon Gianniotis of Greece, who also won the event back in 2011.

Mid way through the race the Shannon man was 13th and just 5.3 seconds behind the leader, he then moved to 12th thanks to a disqualified swimmer.

He fell back to 26th with 2.5 k to go, but a strong finish from the 23 year old means a 16th place finish overall.
