City captain Vincent Kompany is a doubt for this afternoon's game, having left training early with an injury yesterday.

A win for City would move them to within a point of the leaders, with two games in hand.

The 25th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster will be remembered before the game this afternoon, which will add to the emotional atmosphere inside the ground.

All of this weekend's Premier League and FA Cup games have kicked off seven minutes later than usual as a mark of respect to those who died in the disaster.

Kick off at Anfield this afternoon is at 1.37pm.

After that, the other side still challenging for the title, Chelsea, are in action.

They will be looking to aim to keep the heat on Liverpool and City and may even move top of the table with a win this afternoon.

They are away to Swansea City, with kick off at 4.07pm.
