The Tipperary county board have confirmed that Noel McGrath will undergo surgery for testicular cancer on Friday.
In a statement this morning, the county board and Tipp squad wished Noel well during this time.
They say they look forward to welcoming him back in the Tipperary colours in due course.
24-year-old McGrath is a two-time All-Star and a former Young Hurler of the Year.
Separately, Lar Corbett is back in the Tipperary panel.
The Star reports that the 2010 hurler of the year will return to training tonight.
Corbett who won a county title with Thurles Sarsfields last season has been recovering from a knee injury but up until now it remained unclear if he would return.
This weekend the Premier meet Waterford in the Allainz league semi-finals.
