Three teams have secured their place in the quarter finals of this years Clare senior football championship.
A dramatic final round lies in store in two weeks time, where scoring difference will likely decide the final standings in each group.
Group One promised to provide some quality ties and dramatic story lines, and it has certainly lived up to that pledge.
Champions Eire Og notched their second win over the campaign as a Mark McInerney hat trick saw them overcome Miltown.
It leaves the Townies safely into the last eight, with Miltown now looking over their shoulders ahead of a crucial final round tie against St Breckans.
Elsewhere in Group One, St Breckans put themselves back into contention for progression as an inspired showing from Joe McGann helped them beat neighbours Corofin, with both sides now having two points on the board going into the final round.
Group Two is done and dusted in terms of quarter-final qualification, as second wins for Cratloe and Lissycasey sees them safely through.
Both sides were forced to battle before eventually overcoming Kilmihil and St Joseph’s respectively, with those sides meeting in the final round to see who gets the playoff spot and who heads for a relegation scrap.
Group Three will offer the most final day drama, with all four teams still in contention to keep their championship hopes alive.
Clondegad will carry the strongest chance with four points on the board after a dogged one point win over Doonbeg.
Ennistymon overcome the odds to beat Kilmurry Ibrickane as Sean Rynne’s goal proved the difference in a 1-9 to 0-9 win.
The final round pairings here will see Clondegad face Kilmurry with Ennistymon taking on Doonbeg, with a whole host of outcomes likely depending on the results and score lines.
