Three Debuts In Clare Side For League Opener

Three players make their senior debuts for Clare this Sunday in the Banner’s National Football League opener against Waterford.

Cratloe’s Pierce De Loughrey takes over in goals, while Colm Collins has also handed first starts to Kilmihil’s Martin O’Leary and Corofin’s Jamie Malone, both corner-forwards.

In a new-look Banner side, Meelick’s Kevin Hartnett is full-back alongside Dean Ryan of Eire Óg and Martin McMahon of Kilmurry Ibrickane.

Also with Kilmurry Ibrickane, Enda Coughlan and Shane Hickey start in the half-backs beside Cratloe’s Championship winning captain of 2013, Martin Óige Murphy who starts at right wing-back.

Clondegad’s Gary Brennan and Cathal O’Connor of Coolmeen are in midfield behind another Clondegad man, Shane Brennan, Cratloe’s Sean Collins and Shane McGrath of Dublin’s Thomas Davis Club in the half-forwards.

Doonbeg’s David Tubridy completes the team at full-forward. Sunday’s game in Dungarvan throws in at 2 o’clock.
