A former Munster and Ireland prop says he’s worried about rugby players’ quality of life after their careers have ended.

Clonlara man Marcus Horan’s comments come as a group of former internationals are planning to take legal action against rugby authorities for negligence over brain injuries they’ve suffered.

They include ex-England players Steve Thompson and Michael Lipman as well as Wales’ Alix Popham.

Horan, who has 67 Ireland caps to his name after a 14 year career in the front row of the scrum, says establishing the link between rugby and dementia is difficult.
