Ireland assistant manager Marco Tardelli says James Mc Carthy has told him he will travel to New York with the squad for the friendly against Spain next Tuesday.

Mc Carthy is suspended for Fridays World cup qualifier with Faroe Islands but it remains unclear if he’d return as he receives treatment for a groin problem.
Despite that Tardelli says Mc Carthy told him he would rejoin the squad.
