A West Clare lifesaver is hoping to make Ireland’s team travelling to the World Championships in Australia next year.
The National Water Safety Awards were held this week with Clare natives taking home accolades that honoured lifesaving and bravery in rescuing people in immediate danger in the water.
There was great success for the teachers at Cloughleigh school as Ailish Collins, Conor Healy, Joe Garry and Jamie Malone were all awarded with Just in Time awards for rescuing one person from the River Fergus.
Cross native, Leana Liddane, took home the Sportsperson of the Year Award for Lifesaving and has plans of reaching the very top of the sport.
