Clare have kept up their 100% start to the season with a dramatic win over Leitrim in the National Football League today.

The final score at Cusack Park in Ennis was 2-12 to 0-17 points in favour of the Banner.

Clare trailed by four points at half time, 0-9 to 0-5, but two fortunate goals from Barry Toner and Chris Dunning brought them back into the game before a late point from David Tubridy clinched the crucial two points for the Banner.

Clare will continue their quest for promotion away to London next week.

 

There was disappointment however for Clare’s ladies who were beaten by Kildare in their National Football League encounter this afternoon

The final score in Eadestown was 3-13 to 2-10 in favour of the Lillywhites.

In soccer there was joy for Clare today in the Oscar Traynor Cup as the banner won in Sligo.

Clare went 1-0 down in the game’s second half, but Dave McCarthy levelled matters.

The match went to extra time and then penalties, when the Banner prevailed in a 5-4 scoreline.

Clare will now play either South Tipperary or Cork AUL in the semi-finals.

Finally to athletics and there’s been more joy for Clare athletes in the Munster juvenile Indoor Championships who’ve captured six further gold medals on day two of the competition.
