It was Doyles second Irish title and needless to say mentors Tommy Lyons and Sean Carrig were delighted with his success. Doyle beat Ulster Champion Paul McCullough from the Holy Family club in Belfast on a comprehensive 9-1 scoreline in the semi-final on Thursday and led from the first bell against McDonagh in a thrilling final where there was never more than a single point between them. It was 1-1 after the first round , 3-2 at the end of the second before Doyle turned on the style to emerge with a 6-5 winning margin at the finish.
