There will be a strong Clare presence on the Team Ireland flight today to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
After being postponed by 12 months due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the games will get underway on July 23rd with the Team Ireland contingent set to being travelling to Tokyo from today.
Among them will be Shannon native Ed Slattery as part of the Irish Rugby 7’s coaching staff, Lahinch’s Paul Talty who is a coach with swimming squad, Ballyvaughan’s Liam Jegou who competes in the canoe slalom, and Cratloe’s Naomi Carroll on the Irish hockey team.
Naomi says it will be an honour to represent her parish and county on one of the world’s biggest sporting stages.
