St Josephs Tulla Munster win hailed as boost to hurling in the area

The manager of the St Josephs Tulla side who captured the Munster Colleges Senior B Hurling title says the win is a huge boost to hurling in the area.

The East Clare outfit overcame Cork side CBC by 1-16 to 1-14 after extra time to capture the title for the second time.

Their previous win came in 1981, while they also contested the final in 2013.

Manager Tomás Kelly says the win will provide them with huge confidence ahead of an All Ireland semi final

There was also success for Clare football this weekend.

St Josephs Doora Barefield clubman Ivor Whyte was part of the Garda College team that captured the Trench Cup.

They beat St Pats of Drumcondra 1-13 to 0-10, with Whyte also getting point from wing back.
