St. Caimin’s of Shannon opt out of Harty Cup

Only one Clare school will take part in the top competition in Munster schools hurling this year.

St. Flannan’s of Ennis were the only Clare team included in this week’s Harty Cup Draw, where they were handed the tough task of facing Waterford’s De la Salle, St. Colman’s of Fermoy and Limerick’s Ardscoil Rís.

However, no team from St. Caimin’s in Shannon will compete for the Dr. Harty Cup, just five years after the school reached the competition’s final.

A spokesman for the school has told Clare FM that they have opted to compete in the Senior B competition, but are hoping to return to the top tier from 2014.
