St Breckan’s will play in the TUS Clare senior football championship final for the first time since 1996.
The North Clare side saw off the challenge of Miltown after an extra-time epic on a scoreline of 1-12 to 0-14.
Eoin Cleary’s last gasp free tailed agonisingly to the right of the post when it looked as if the game might be destined to be decided by penalty kicks.
Joe McGann’s penalty on the stroke of half-time sent St Breckan’s to the dressing rooms with a 1-5 to 0-4 lead, and they built on that after the restart to go five points clear in the closing quarter.
Led by the Cleary twins, Miltown slowly worked their way back into the game, with Conor Cleary notching the levelling score to send the game to the added period.
McGann would prove to be the match winner as his effort had just inches to spare over Sean O’Brien’s crossbar to bridge a 27 year gap since their last final appearance.
