They lost to na Piarsigh in Sixmilebridge this afternoon by 3-11 to 1-15, despite having led by nine points at half time.

It was an action packed opening 10 minutes, with a point from Brian Corry and a Niall Gilligan free seeing the Bridge lead 0-2 to 0-0 after 6 mins.

David Dempsey then struck for a goal for the Limerick men just a minute later after great work from Shane Dowling, but the Bridge responded well, and the game was level at 1-1 to 0-4 midway through the half.

The home side struck for 0-2 in a row before Cathal Malone billowed the na Piarsigh net to see them lead 1-6 to 1-1 after 20 minutes.

The Clare champions outscored their opponents 0-6 to 0-2 in the closing ten minutes of the half to take a 1-12 to 1-3 lead to the dressing room at the break.

Whatever was said in that na Piarsigh dressing room at half time worked as Kevin Downes struck 1-1 in the opening two minutes to reduce the deficit to just five points.

Niall Gilligan then settled the nerves with his fifth and sixth points of the game, five of those coming from frees.

Peter Casey then grabbed Na Piarsigh third goal and when Shane Dowling landed another free, the gap was back to two with 20 minutes to play.

Adrian Breen then cut the gap to just the minimum midway through the half, with the Limerick men also hitting some long range wides in search of the equaliser.

Niall Gilligan then pointed once more, but Kevin Ryan cut the gap to the minimum once more.

Ronan Lynch then brought the sides level before Adrian Breen gave Na Piarsigh the lead for the first time in the game with just 9 minutes to play.

Shane Dowling then hit for the final score of the game to see the Limerick men lead by two points.

The drama wasn't finished there, as Niall Gilligans 20 metre free deep into injury time was blocked on the line and cleared, with the resultant "65 dropping short.

With that Cathal McAllister blew the full time whistle, and saw Sixmilebridge beaten for the first time in 2015.
