Shamrock Rovers have sacked manager Stephen Kenny after less than nine months in charge.
Kenny’s paid the price for Rovers fourth league defeat of the season which came at the hands of rivals Bohemians last night.
The reigning champions find themselves 13 points off top spot in the Airtricity League Premier Division with just six games to go.
Kenny took over last December as Michael O’Neill’s replacement but he failed to replicate the success the current Northern Ireland manager had at the club.
Assistant manager Stephen Glass will take charge for Friday night’s FAI Ford Cup quarter-final against Shelbourne.
Meanwhile, ahead of their friendly against Oman tonight, Ireland are in line to play England in a friendly next May but details of the fixture won’t be confirmed for at least another 48 hours.
The two sides haven’t met since 1995 when the game was abandoned in the first half due to rioting from a section of the England fans.
