The captain of the Newmarket on Fergus hurlers says they’re delighted to have edged a massive battle with their neighbours to take the 2017 Clare Cup title.

The Blues overcame Sixmilebridge by 2-9 to 0-13 to capture the final silverware of the Clare GAA season, taking the title for the fourth time this decade.

Colin Ryan hit 1-8 of his sides tally with Colin Guilfoyle getting the games opening goal in the first half while Mikey McInerney was their other point scorer.

2013 All Ireland winner Ryan says they always knew it would be a tough afternoon against the county champions.
