Today’s action in Round two of the Senior Hurling Championship saw wins for Newmarket-on-Fergus, Cratloe, Sixmilebridge, Eire Og and O’Callaghan’s Mills.
The Group 2 meeting of Cratloe and St Josephs in Cusack Park saw a sixteen point win for Cratloe with a final score of 2-22 to 2-06.
The return of the Clare hurlers proved a massive boost to Joe McGrath’s side, with Alan O’Neill the main man for St Josephs, contributing 2-04 of the 2-06 scored.
The late game in Sixmilebridge, the Senior B clash of Eire Og and Smith O’Brien’s was another comprehensive win for the Townies, they beat Smith O’Brien’s 3-22 to 0-07.
Substitute Danny Russell with two goals there finished from passes by Shane O’Donnell.
Sixmilebridge captured their first 2 points of this championship campaign with a 3-17 to 2-10 win over Clooney/Quin. That loss for Francis Browne’s side means they remain rooted at the bottom of the Group 3 table, yet again without a win.
The senior B clash of O’Callaghan’s Mills and Ruan ended in a 4-16 to 1-14 win for the Mills meaning they top the group with two wins from two.
Defending Canon Hamilton champions Newmarket-on-Fergus are top of the Senior A Group 1 table after 1-18 to 1-08 victory over Tulla in the opening game this afternoon.
There was also one Intermediate Championship playoff this afternoon where Parteen overcame Clarecastle. It finished 2-17 to 1-13 in Shannon.
