RIO2016 Olympics – Update

Irish boxer Stephen Donnelly missed his chance to secure an Olympic medal.

It's after he lost on a split decision in his Welterweight bout against world champion, Mohammed Rabii of Morrocco.

Brendan Irvine's Olympics is also over.

The Belfast boxer, who was aiming to book his place in the last 16, lost by a unanimous decision to Shakhobidin Zoirov of Uzbekistan in the preliminary round of the Flyweight division.

In Sailing,

Annalise Murphy finished 6th in race 9 of the laser radial. 

She's now up to 2nd  place overall with one race left before the medal race.

Finn Lynch is action in the Men's Laser later.

The Mens 49er crew of Ryan Seaton and Matt McGovern finished third in Race 3 while the women's 49er crew of Saskia Tidey and Andrea Brewster finished Race 3 in sixth place.

Earlier, Sanita Puspure ended her Olympic campaign on a high.

She won the Singls Sculls C final to finish 13th overall.

In Athletics, 

Good news for Ireland's Sara Treacy,

Shes been added to the final of the 3,000m steeplechase on Monday after being tripped during her heat earlier.

Treacy was 12th in heat 3, in a personal best time of 9:46.24.

No joy for Kerry O'Flaherty who was 14th in a season's best time of 9:45.35 in heat 1.

And in heat 2, Michelle Finn crossed the line in 11th in a time of 9:49.45.

Mark English  goes in the semi-final of the Men’s 800m in the early hours of tomorrow morning.

Padriag Harraington is 5 shots off the pace at the Men's Golf tournament.

He is 5-under par with Seamas Power 3 under par.

Justin Rose leads on 10 under par.

Shannon McCurley finished 5th in her heat in the Keirin event at the Velodrome. 

She was 4th in the repechage heats.
