Stephen Donnelly is just one win away from winning Ireland's second medal at the Rio Olympics.

He'll be guaranteed bronze if he beats reigning world champion Mohammed Rabii of Morrocco in their Welterweight quarter-final at 4.15.

Before that, Belfast's Brendan Irvine finally gets his Games underway when he fights an Uzbek opponent in the preliminary round of the Flyweight division at quarter-past three.

Padraig Harrington and Seamus Power resume their challenge at the Men's Golf tournament this afternoon.

Harrington resumes from 1-under par at around half-past one.

But Power won't tee-off until nearly half-past two today when he begins from 4-under par and just six-shots behind out-right leader Marcus Fraser of Australia.

In Athletics, Kerry O'Flaherty, Sara Treacy and Michelle Finn will all be competing on the track today in the Heats of the Women's Steelechase, which get underway just after 2pm.

Last night, Ciara Mageean reached the semi-finals of the women's 1,500m after she finished second in her heat.

==========
At around the same time, Sharon McCurley will get her Olymics underway when she contests the first round of the Women's Keirin competition on the cycling track.

==========
There's also plenty of Sailing action today in Rio, which will get underway after 5pm.

Annalise Murphy is in third place overall heading into her final two races in the Laser Radial before Monday's medal race.

Finn Lynch is back in 29th in the Men's Laser.

And the Mens and Women's 49er crews are both in 5th place after their opening two races yesterday.

=======
Disappointment for the Irish hockey team last night.

A 3-2 defeat to Argentina leaves them in fifth place in their group, with the top four progressing to quarter-finals.

No joy either for Chloe Magee.

She bowed out of the badminton after back-to-back defeats.

Also in Badminton,

Scott Evans faces Brazilian opposition later tonight knowing a win will secure a place in the last 16 thanks to yesterday's historic victory over world No.14 Marc Zwiebler.
