Results Round-Up From Today’s Clare Cup Action

There was plenty of action in Division 1A and 1B of the Clare Cup this afternoon.

Ballyea’s shining start came to an abrupt halt as the county champions were narrowly defeated by Inagh-Kilnamona on away soil on a full time score of 1-20 to 3-12.

Meanwhile defending champions, Kilmaley eventually prevailed at home againstĀ  O’Callaghan’s Mills, the sides were deadlocked at 0-07 apiece at the interval, however, the Mid-Clare outfit produced a late rallying call to secure an 0-18 to 0-12 win.

An East Clare derby was required for Broadford to secure their first win of the campaign as they defeated Clonlara by 0-18 to 1-13 to bounce back from a heavy opening round defeat, their opponents meanwhile remain without a win.

The late throw in the top tier saw Sixmilebridge & Crusheen renew rivalries at O’Garney Park with the home side comfortably winning out by 1-21 to 0-14.

There was just one postponement in Division 1A, with the meeting of Newmarket-On-Fergus & Feakle cancelled due to an unplayable surface owing to recent heavy downpours.

Meanwhile, in Division 1B, Clarecastle have maintained their 100% start with a seven-point win over Clooney-Quin, the Magpies were victorious on home turf on a full time score of 0-21 to 1-11.

Elsewhere, The Parish proved too strong for Wolfe Tones in Shannon with St.Joseph’s Doora-Barefield finding the goal touch to secure the two vital points on a final score of 3-18 to 0-15.

Finally, Parteen-Meelick suffered their first defeat as a single entity losing out to Scariff by 2-14 to 1-12.
