The Republic of Ireland’s hopes of automatic qualification to the World Cup have been dealt a blow.
Martin O’Neill’s side have been held to a 1-all draw to Georgia, in an ultimately below-par performance in Tblisi.

Ireland enjoyed the perfect start in just the 4th minute when Shane Duffy headed home a Cyrus Christie free-kick.
But the rest of the first half was dominated by the Georgians, and they deservedly equalised through Kazaishvili after 35 minutes in a well-worked move.
Aidan McGeady and Daryl Murphy were both introduced in the second half but they couldn’t force a winner.
