Local French media are reporting that the Ireland captain has finalised his deal with the three-time European champions ahead of the midnight deadline to register their squad for next season.
The 35-year-old is said to have agreed a one-year deal with the option for a second-year.
This morning, French media had reported that Toulon had cooled their interest in the player O'Connell because of a shoulder problem.
