Reidy Leads Eire Óg Across The Bridge To Clare Senior Hurling Final

Matt Shannon’s Eire Óg side have qualified for the clubs first Senior County Final in twenty-two years following a dramatic eighty minutes of hurling in Cusack Park.

A personal haul of 1-10 from sharpshooter David Reidy helped the town on their way to victory in a contest that simply had everything in the County grounds.

Despite playing the majority of the second half against fourteen men after Sixmilebridge’s Caimin Morey was dismissed on thirty-seven minutes for a second bookable offence, the Townies were forced to overturn a four point deficit to send the game into the extra time.

With a Shane O’Donell goal and a David Reidy free in the additional four minutes breaking Sixmilebridge hearts.

Eire Og took over in the extra time period however, outscoring their opponents by 0-08 to 0-02 and even accounting for Derek Fahy’s stunning penalty save from David Reidy on sixty-four minutes.

The Townies will now face Ballyea in the decider where they will be hoping to add the Club’s 16th Canon Hamilton crown.

As it finished in Cusack Park, Eire Óg 2-23 to Sixmilebridge 2-17
