There are four games down for decision, with a double header in the losers section getting the afternoons action underway.

First up in Clarecastle is the meeting of Eire Óg and Lissycasey, with the sides also meeting in the playoff stages of last years competition when the Townies emerged victorious.

That win sparked a run that brough them all the way to the county final, and selector Mattie Murphy says they're hoping that road will open up once more

Throw in there is at 3pm, with the winners going to the playoff round while the losers face a relegation semi final.

It's the same story at 4.30pm as Wolfe Tones take on Doora Barefield.

In the winners round this evening, St Breckans and Kilrush will both be looking to book a spot in the last eight when they meet in Miltown.

Kilrush eased past Doora Barefield first time out, while the North Clare side won a titanic battle against Lissycasey that went all the way to extra time.

Selector Neil Hawes says they won't be getting carried away

Throw in there is at 6.30pm.

It's a 5.30pm start in Doonbeg for Clondegad and O'Currys with a quarter final place up for grabs also.

These sides met in the 2011 intermediate championship, while both reached the last eight of last years senior championship.

Clondegad boss Michael Hehir says they're eager to get back there once more.

There are also two games this afternoon in the intermediate football championship.

Kilmihil can put themselves into the last four if they beat Naomh Eoin in Doonbeg with that one underway at 4pm while at 5pm in Miltown Corofin take on Liscannor.
