Clare booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Kennedy Bowl with a hard-earned win over Roscommon.
Clare 1
Roscommon 0
Venue: University of Limerick.
Going into the final group game, Clare needed a win and were counting on neighbours Limerick to cause an upset against Galway in order for them to make the quarter-finals of the Kennedy Cup. Unfortunately for the Banner their neighbours failed to do them any favours as they lost 4-1 to an impressive Galway outfit.
Captain Callum McNamara picked up his third goal of the tournament after getting on the end of a free kick from Avenue United’s Jack Joyce to finish from close range. Clare’s defence stayed strong throughout the ninety minutes as they picked up their second clean sheet of the tournament.
Next up for the Clare boys is a quarter-final in the Kennedy Bowl which is the second tier competition where they will face Donegal in the University of Limerick with the game set to kick-off at 13:00.
The winners of the Clare vs Donegal clash will advance to the last four where they will take on either Inishowen or Limerick District. After some strong displays today, it is hoped the Banner will be able to replicate this for their quarter-final tie.
