Quality Ties To Open 2025 TUS Clare SHC

It was a lively evening to begin the 2025 TUS Clare club hurling championships.

There was drama aplenty in Zimmer Biomet Pairc Chiosiog as a late, hotly disputed Cathal Tots O’Connell free eventually settled a see saw contest as Clonlara beat Sixmilebridge by 1-19 to 1-18.

The winner came in the 64th minute after referee Jarlath Donnellan adjudged that Brian Carey had over carried the ball while trying to break clear of a cluster of bodies, with the decision strongly disputed by the Bridge contingent.

Michael Collins top scored for the winners with 1-5 on an evening that also saw Sixmilebridge lose Cathal Malone, Barry Fitzpatrick and Seadna Morey to injury.

It was more straightforward for Éire Og, as second half goals from Darren O’Brien and Marco Cleary helped them beat Newmarket by 2-24 to 1-17.

Danny Russell landed 0-13 for the winners who had six different scorers, while Newmarkets goal came from Mikey McInerney, with Peter Power accounting for 0-10 of their tally.

In the Premier intermediate championship, O’Callaghans Mills recorded a 2-32 to 1-14 win over Killanena.
