Pitch indiscipline concerns raised at Camogie AGM

Concern has been raised about the standard of discipline in camogie in Clare by the sport’s hearings and disciplinary committee.

The group’s concerns were raised in their report to clubs at last night’s AGM, which also saw Ruan’s Michael O’Regan elected as the new chairman of the Clare Camogie Board.

The sport’s disciplinary committee raised concerns about the raised number of red cards and verbal abuse of referees this year, describing 2012 as having provided a ‘retrograde step’ in discipline.

A motion from Truagh that a limit of 5 be placed on the number of team personnel on the sideline was passed, and it was confirmed that the Under 14 Championship will revert to earlier in the year after a number of clubs expressed concern.

The board’s  finances for the first nine months of this year show an overall loss of around 1,700 euro, and though he said matters have approved since then, treasurer Michael Maher did warn of challenges ahead as a result of the sport’s new home in Doora.
