Pearse called up to Ireland squad

Alex Pearce has been called up to the Ireland squad for next months friendly with Poland.

The 24 year old Reading defender replaces Darren O’Dea who’s club FC Toronto want him to stay with them for pre-season preparations.

Pearce has been capped once for his county against Oman in a friendly and has played 14 times for his club so far this season.

It’s being reported that Crystal Place winger Wilfred Zaha will have a medical at Manchester United within the next 48 hours.

The England international will cost the Reds around 15 million pounds.

Everton defender Sylvan Distin has signed a new one year deal with the club.

The 35 year old who joined the club from Portsmouth in 2009 has made 22 appearances for the Toffee’s this season.
