Cork boss Jimmy Barry Murphy has ruled out any prospect of Paudie O’Sullivan playing a part in the replay of the All Ireland Hurling Final against Clare.
O’Sullivan has missed all of this year’s championship after breaking his leg in April, and has been training with the Cork squad in a bid to return for next weekend’s game.
However, JBM says he won’t take any part, though there is better news for another Cork forward, Cian McCarthy, who should be fit to line out.
Meanwhile, it’s been confirmed that Westmeath’s James McGrath will referee the All Ireland Final replay.
Offaly’s Brian Gavin, who was criticised for his handling of the first game, has been named as standby referee though the GAA also changed referees for the replay of last year’s hurling decider.
McGrath refereed this year’s Munster Final, and the clash of Clare and Waterford in the Munster Championship.
