Republic of Ireland manager Martin O’Neill says he’s planning to hold talks with Shay Given in the New Year.
The Ireland boss has revealed that the door is still open to Ireland’s most-capped goalkeeper to make a return to international football.
The 37-year-old, who is currently on-loan with Middlesbrough, has admitted that he would consider coming out of international retirement if he was needed by the new management team.
Meanwhile, it’s widely reported Cardiff owner Vincent Tan has told manager Malky Mackay to resign – or be sacked. Earlier this week, Tan publicly criticised Mackay after he said he wanted to sign three new players next month.
