O’Gara could feature in 1st Lions’ test

An injury to James Hook has shortened the odds on Munster man Ronan O’Gara playing a part in this Sunday’s opening test between South Africa and the British & Irish Lions.

Hook received a blow to the head and neck in yesterday’s win over the Southern Kings while O’Gara came off the bench to score 15 points from outhalf and set up Ugo Monye’s try with a cross field kick.

Lions’ head coach Ian McGeechan is mulling over his selection today and will announce his Test side tomorrow.

The 32 year old Cork man criticised the tactics of yesterday’s opponents for a series of late tackle but the Lions have confirmed that there will be no citings arising out of the game.
