A Clare hurling legend has welcomed the GAA's decision to trial one-on-one penalties in hurling for the pre-season Waterford Crystal and Walsh Cups.

The proposal, from the Hurling 2020 committee, comes in light of recent controversies regarding the penalty and Anthony Nash-style shots which saw strikes from well inside the 21-metre line.
The GAA outlawed these during last year's Championship, but this resulted in the majority of penalties being saved by the defending team.
Double All-Ireland winner with Clare Jamesie O'Connor says the new proposal is interesting.
